The application had been submitted in September 2013. I misunderstood their website and thought that the announcement would be make in March. I conversed on the phone with Bob Brinkman, who told me that the application fell into the category of Undertold Stories. That decision will not be made until the end of July 2014. Once that decision is made, there will still be remaining projects to pursue for recognition. One is the story of how the star on the flag given to the Georgia Battalion by Joanna Troutman became the official Lone Star on the flag of the state of Texas. The second is the fact that there is no monument to the Georgia Battalion at Refugion, the only place where the Georgia Battalion engaged in direct combat as a unit. The third is the story of Hardaway’s efforts regarding a memorial to the Georgia Battalion at Goliad.
